The Allen Men's basketball team knocked off the undefeated and first place in the Jayhawk Conference Barton Cougars Wednesday night 68-65. Prior to tonight's game, the Red Devils were 0-15 against Barton in Great Bend, so this marks the first time in history Allen defeated Barton on the road. Allen trailed early in the game, and largest deficit was 9 points with just under 10 minutes left in the first half. Allen made their run late in the first half, and grabbed a 4 point lead heading into halftime and would not surrender the lead for the rest of the night.
In the second half, Allen came out strong from the get go, and pushed the lead to as many as 14 points with 16 minutes left to play. The Cougars would make a run to tighten the game late, as Allen struggled in the final 2 minutes from the free throw line, but the Red Devils were able to get enough stops to earn the victory.
Tyler Williams continued his solid play, scoring 26 points, and Darius Love was the only other Red Devil in double figures with 13 points. Jacob Patterson chipped in 6 points, and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Red Devils improve to 4-6 on the season, and 2-4 in Jayhawk Conference play. Allen will return home for their last home conference game of the semester on Saturday for a 4:00 PM tip-off vs Cowley.
